This was kind of a zen tangle gone crazy page.
I started with one of my gesso and then watercolored pages.
I used red pen and doodled (zen tangled) all over. Then added
a bright pink, orange, yellow, and white to pop some of the
areas out. After that I lettered the quote over the
top of it all. Looking at it again it’s kind of a zen tangle turned
retro 70’s – ha ha ha! I need to learn to add more 3-D elements
to pages.

I unfortunately had a migraine that took a day to get over so I’ve combined both these days…There are two pages but I didn’t feel well enough to finish them. Hopefully tomorrow.

Jan 6th Birds in Weeds

I looked outside to see about 20 birds hanging out in our garden weeds. It was so cold the weeds had crystalized tops that looked like flowers. The birds were eating the seeds out of the branches. I was kind of happy that we hadn’t gotten rid of all those weeds as it gave the birds a winter snack.

This is more true to how I keep a journal. Although I like to create both styles.

So far I’ve jumped around to three different “journals” This one is old recycled file folders with gesso added and then whatever medium added over that. This one has watercolor, acrylics, and chalk.

This page is the starter page in a watercolor journal that I have had forever. I never was brave enough to create anything inside. Seems like blank beautiful books are to precious to create anything inside. I might just keep it a series of paintings as a “color study” of sorts.

The book is rather wide when opened. the one bad thing about the type of paper is that it is handmade and watercolor seeps through to the back. Making the next page un-usable.

I am playing catch-up on actually putting the pages up on my blog. I’ve actually been creating them, just not posting them.

I love this quote. I probably will re-do it again though as I don’t like how the page turned out.

I am having a hard time creating my journal pages and then remembering to post them…UGH! Or maybe it’s just my procrastination gene coming into play…

I love color, and playing with hand lettering, plus I am trying to make positive changes in my thinking patterns so this page is posted by my desk for me to read daily.

I did two pages for my visual journal…this one is my theme for the year ahead…. (thank you Jimmy Stuart).

The theme for this next page is “Life does not have to be PERFECT, to be perfectly wonderful” Hmmmm – maybe I should try to include the word “wonderful” in all my pages….

Strange Facts about me….

- I’m a list maker….although I always forget the list at home

- Messy is my middle name although I really, REALLY wish I wasn’t. It kind of drives me nuts to be this way.

- All my clothes have paint on them….and I tend to wipe brushes off on my shirt(s) without even thinking about it. It’s just quicker than having a paper towel close by. I’m trying to break this habit.

- You might already know that I paint both realistically and whimsically. I value them both equally as much…one allows me to play and be free the other challenges me and pushes me forward.

- I dream of living in one of those cool artist type homes but I live a normal life in a normal home….well at least I think it’s normal!

- Currently, my studio is the main living room of our house. I needed more room, and we didn’t use our living room much – decision made! Scratch the normal house thing above….LOL

- I love, love people but I don’t enjoy big crowds of people.
